Exploring the land around our house |
On the weekends (or weekday
evenings if we get the chance), we like to explore “our backyard”. It’s not
literally our backyard, because that’s fenced in, but the surrounding area of
Budoia. Slowly we are expanding the territory we know and seeing more of the
beautiful Italian countryside.
The picture above was taken on a
few minutes walk from our house. We live next to several areas that offer a variety
of outdoor activities. One area just across from our house has many winding paths
through the woods that are frequented by many walkers and joggers. The area
seen above, is near the base of the mountains and offers hiking and mountain
biking trails.
This picture was taken on one of
our first outings and we were excited to see that there were numerous trails
branching off from the main one. This means there are plenty of new places to
see and it will be some time before we have traveled the whole area!
The paths we chose led us by mossy
rock walls, riverbeds, woodland paths, and many meadows. I can see these being excellent places for picnics, Frisbee,
and other such future activities.
Wandering the narrow streets of our small Italian town |
We also
explore through the town. Above you can see Troy meandering the back streets in
the late evening (There was hardly anyone around! Felt like a ghost town). This
picture is also a good example of how narrow the roads can be in the small
towns!
Watching the sun set behind the mountains. So blessed to live where we do! |
P.S. For those wondering where little Adam was for these
adventures, he enjoyed exploring from the baby carrier on Troy’s front, and
thus didn’t make it into any of these pictures.
